A fabulous day this week with 5 lovely ladies all at different stages of their flower journeys who joined Jemima and I to learn all about starting your own Cut Flower Garden.
We started with coffee and homemade carrot cake before heading down to have a look at my flower plot. It was the most beautiful spring day so just glorious to be outside and they saw my greenhouse brimming with seeds and seedlings at all different stages, green manure crops on some of my raised beds, ranunuculus and anemones coming on in my mini poly tunnels, some new planted out perennials and other new no dig beds covered in a manure mulch with a newly sown mustard crop.
We then returned to the kitchen where we discussed how to prepare a plot and start growing, all the different plant and seed types, month by month planting, pests and diseases to look out for, tools needed, our recommended list of suppliers, books, podcasts, wholesalers etc and routes to markets. We had a delicious home cooked lunch and then to finish we discussed how to set up your own business starting with your name, logo, branding, photographs, social media, marketing, designing a website etc.. the list was endless.
Hopefully a very informative day and we look forward to following everyone’s flower journey.
We are planning another similar day in September. Date to be confirmed.
